UnitexUnitex Chemical Corporation was founded in 1973 as a specialty chemical manufacturer, and supplier to the textile industry. Unitex has become a diversified leader among chemical suppliers, providing components used in many industries throughout the United States and around the world.

Unitex manufactures a broad product line, including plasticizers and flame retardents for the adhesive, paint, and plastics industries. It also offers polymeric and organic intermediates for customers who produce polymers, pharmaceuticals, agricultural and specialty chemicals.

Unitex headquarters and main plant are located in Greensboro, part of central North Carolina's Piedmont Triad with a population of over 1 million people. Built in 1979, the state-of-the-art production facility is on a 26 acre site, and includes manufacturing, warehousing, laboratory and office space.

UnitexUnitex Chemical Corporation is built on a tradition of wide product range, investment in the best laboratory and testing skills, safe production methods, and rapid response. Of special importance at Unitex is our facility for organic synthesis and analytical support, where our chemists use the most modern analytical instruments.

Our plant supervisors are well trained and experienced, directing a staff trained and equipped to match the toughest quality control standards. Unitex has an excellent manufacturing capability, ranging from a 55-gallon, glass-lined pilot plant to our 12,000-gallon, glass-lined and stainless steel reactors. This equipment operates at high temperature and pressure, including full vacuum at 600°F. Each vessel is equipped with hot oil, and steam on zoned heating coils.Unitex

The Unitex product line is expanding rapidly, and now includes specialty chemicals utilized in a broad spectrum of industrial applications. Esters based on mono- and polybasic acids, along with sulfonamides, form on important segment of the product line. Flame retardants for PVC and Polyolefins are the latest product line expansion.

The versatility of our chemical expertise and manufacturing equipment gives Unitex on excellent capability in custom manufacturing.

UnitexOur expansion into new user industries has been rapid. Unitex products are sold worldwide for application in such products as extruded plastic, polyester fiber, polyester resins, paint, cosmetics, adhesives, food and packaging film, automotives, engineering resins, circuit boards, explosives, fragrances, and electronic components.Unitex

A wide range of manufacturing capabilities, including mixing/blending, esterfication, polymerization, sulfonation, amidification, sulfonamidation, chlorination, and distillation led to rapid expansion. Additionally, we have solids grinding capability. Distillation is becoming increasingly important, and Unitex offers a 20tray bubble cap column and 102sq.ft., titanium-clad, Luwa wiped film evaporator, as well as a 1.2 sq. ft. pilot plant unit. Each reactor is equipped for overhead distillation.

UnitexOur order processing is computerized, allowing us to monitor each order as it goes through research/development, manufacturing, and on to shipping. Unitex maintains a fleet of heated, MC307 stainless steel tankers for bulk liquid shipments, and tractor-trailers for drum deliveries. The main Unitex plant location is adjacent to the convergence of interstates I-85 and I-40, and convenient to major railheads.Unitex

Chemical manufacturing requires a total commitment to quality, safety, research, versatility, and customer service. Unitex Chemical Corporation has earned a reputation for having that commitment.

Integrity is an important word around Unitex. Integrity is at the heart of our product development and quality control as Unitex products move toward the customers' end uses. Sophisticated quality control always begins with the best raw material and continues with consistent performance in the laboratory.

Our laboratories are equipped with the latest in analytical instrumentation, placed in the hands of expert technicians. This combination ensures rapid and accurate analysis of incoming raw materials, in-process products, and final products.

UnitexOur laboratory staff includes organic chemists, analytical staff, and plant technicians. Our personnel use high performance liquid chromatography, capillary gas chromatography, and infrared spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis. Additional instrumental and wet method analyses are routinely used.

Statistical analyses of quality control results are employed to minimize batch-to-batch variations and to make procedural adjustments, ensuring that finished products are on specification in every shipment. This kind of attention provides customers unexcelled products that will give them reliable performance in their plants.

UnitexExtensive safeguards are built into every Unitex manufacturing process. Employees are given regular training in safe work practices, emergency response procedures, and environmental protection. The company's manufacturing, warehousing, and shipping areas are designed to prevent loss of liquid or solid materials to storm drains, municipal sewers, and ground water.

All laboratory research is conducted under strict policies and guidelines to ensure safe handling of new and exploratory chemicals and combinations. Concern for health and safety is an integral part of research and development at Unitex-from concept, through laboratory work, and finally commercialization of the finished product. No product is manufactured at Unitex if it cannot be mode without adverse effect on the environment. Research from these laboratories has resulted in the issuance of a number of U.S. patents on the synthesis and application of flame retardents.

Unitex is committed to a continuing effort to improve the responsible management of chemicals. We pledge to manage our business according to these principles.
