3.    HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION

Emergency Overview:    Do not breathe vapors; do not ingest; avoid contact with skin, eyes, or clothing.  Wash thoroughly after handling; do not eat, drink, or smoke in work areas.

Potential Health Effects:    May cause skin irritation.  Inhalation of dust may cause irritation to the respiratory tract. Inhalation of large amounts of respirable particles may be toxic to lungs, symptoms may be modest at first; followed by severe shortness of breath requiring prompt medical attention.

Eye Contact:    May cause burning sensation, irritation accompanied with pain and corneal or conjunctival ulceration in severe cases.

Skin Contact:    May cause irritation, stinging, redness, and some swelling.

Ingestion:    May cause severe burning in the mouth and digestive tract.

Chronic:    None known.

4.    FIRST AID MEASURES

Inhalation:    Remove to fresh air if coughing, soreness in respiratory tract, chest tightness, or difficulty in breathing occurs.  If breathing is difficult, give oxygen and seek prompt medical attention.

Eye Contact:    Immediately flush with large quantities of water for at least 15 minutes, while holding the eyelids open.  Do not attempt to neutralize with chemical agents.  Contact a physician if irritation persists.

Skin Contact:    Immediately remove contaminated clothing and flush area with large quantities of water for at least 15 minutes.  Contact a physician if irritation persists.

Ingestion:    If patient is conscious, give several glasses of water for dilution effect and contact a physician.  Do not induce vomiting.  Do not give an unconscious person anything by mouth.

Note to Physicians:   Activated charcoal mixture may be administered.  To prepare activated charcoal mixture, suspend 50 grams activated charcoal in 400 ml water and mix thoroughly.  Administer 5 ml/kg, or 350 ml for an average adult.

5.    FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES

Flash Point:  >93°C (>199°F)  Cleveland open cup.

General Hazard:     Hazardous decomposition products including carbon dioxide, carbon

monoxide, hydrogen fluoride, toxic gases or particles may be formed during combustion.  These

products may cause severe eye, nose, throat, and lung irritation or toxic effects.

Fire Fighting Instructions:    Extinguishing media--water fog or spray; carbon dioxide; foam; or earth and mud.  Wear self-contained breathing apparatus.

Hazardous Combustion Products:    Oxides of Carbon, Hydrogen fluoride, and other potentially

toxic gases or particles.  Avoid breathing decomposition products.

6.    ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES

Land Spill:    Scrape up spilled material and dispose in accordance with all local, state, and federal regulations.  If molten, allow to solidify then scrape up spill.

Water Spill:    Remove product layered on water by mechanical means.  Place spill in appropriate container for disposal in approved facilities.

7.    HANDLING AND STORAGE

Storage Temperature:        Ambient                            Storage Pressure:       Pressureless

General:    Store in cool, dry, and well-ventilated area.  Keep containers closed.  Keep away from

open flames and heated surfaces above 200°C (392°F).  Avoid circumstances that produce respirable particles unless suitable ventilation and respirator are used.

8.    EXPOSURE CONTROL/PERSONAL PROTECTION

Engineering Controls:    Keep container tightly closed.  Use only with adequate ventilation.  Vent heated extruder or dryer fumes outside work area.  Do not form aerosols.  Minimize worker exposure to mists, sprays, and dusts.

Personal Protection:    Splash-proof goggles with rubber, PVC, or impervious chemical gloves.

Respirator:    None required.  Use NIOSH organic vapor cartridge respirator with dust caps, as appropriate.

Protective Clothing:    Impervious chemical clothing for remediation of large spills.

Exposure Guideline Comments:    No AEL has been established for this product. Other products

with fluorinated material components have AEL of 0.1 mg/m3  (8 hour TWA) for respirable size particles.
